PCI Group is a company that’s been around for more than 40 years, building technologies for the debt collection industry and printing collection letters for utility companies (e.g. cable bills, water bills, etc.).
When I began working for them as a one-man marketing shop, their marketing consisted primarily of trade show appearances, brochures/collateral, and ad placement in the occasional trade publication. Nothing had been updated in some time and their materials were pretty stale. I quickly brought all their materials up to date with contemporary copy, a new trade show booth design, social media presences, a new client-centered online portal, and more.
I also worked on some new ads that made the brand pop more in trade publications, which were a sea of abysmal, text-based ads.
This is one of the ads I created that generated some good bites and got people talking about the company again.
In conceptualizing it, I thought about the early days of document delivery using pigeons and how innovative that was. PCI Group’s own innovative technologies allow for quick and targeted document delivery, so I liked the parallels there. I also liked the idea of taking something antiquated, like the USPS mail delivery process, and making it better (a rocket-powered pigeon). So a couple ideas came out of it.
